A Simultaneous Display by GM Yasser Seirawan

There was a simultaneous display by Super GM Yasser Seirawan of the USA in Cardiff on the 30th April 2006, at Cardiff YMCA The Walk.

Just before the start of the simul, GM Yasser gave a superb presentation including a brief history of his chess career, which was warmly applauded. Then GM Yasser Seirawan only took around 5 hours of great chess play to win against 31 opponents and draw with the remaining 6. Full detailed report by Charles Summers

Many thanks to GM Yasser and Yvette Seirawan for taking the time to come over and give us Welsh chess players the opportunity to meet and play such a great GM.

Many thanks must also go to our chess friend Arnie Garcia for helping to arrange this special event by contacting his long standing friend GM Yasser.

Dreams & Nightmares

GM Yasser started off this game with his title of "Dreams and Nightmares". Dreams because, young up and coming chess players have the opportunity to play GMs in the first rounds of chess congresses. Nightmares because the GM might lose to an up and coming young chess player.

The Position

The demo board shows the position of the tutorial game GM Yasser was talking about, in his nightmare game against a young opponent in the first round of a congress.

The Simul

GM Yasser shakes the hand of every opponent at the start of their game. An ITV Wales news team was at the event to film the occasion.
